The plugin

DropWave 2.1 came with an Audio Unit plugin that read the key and tempo of a channel inside your DAW. DropWave V2 is a ground-up rebuild, and the plugin is not part of it yet.

Where it stands

  • DropWave V2 (3.1.0) is the app: drop files or folders and read everything about them. It does not include a plugin.
  • The plugin is not forgotten. Reading a channel in place, without bouncing it, is still the right idea. We are not promising a date.
  • If you still run 2.1, its plugin keeps working as it did. The plugin documentation describes it.

What V2 does instead

Bounce or drag the file into DropWave and you get more than the plugin ever showed: the key and every key change, the tempo with the beat grid, tuning, loudness and true peak, and a way to check each by ear.
