Who I am
I'm an independent developer in Sweden, and I make DropWave. I decide how the data below is used, which makes me its "controller" under the GDPR. Reach me at hello@getdropwave.com about anything on this page.
The short version
- Your audio is never uploaded. DropWave reads your files on your own computer. Their names, folders, contents and readings are never sent anywhere.
- The website has no cookies, no analytics and no tracking.
- The app goes online for two things only: checking for updates and checking your key.
- I never sell personal data and never use it for advertising.
The website
Like any website, getdropwave.com receives your IP address and browser details in order to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks. They are used for nothing else. Why I may: a legitimate interest in running a safe website.
The DropWave app
- Update checks, when DropWave starts and about twice a day: the app's version and update channel, and your key, so the server knows which builds you can get.
- Key checks, when you enter your key, when DropWave starts and about once a day: the key and a random install ID made on your computer (nothing about the computer itself). Each key is linked to the Discord account it was sent to. The server keeps when each key was last used and the install IDs it was used from, so that a key shared across many computers stands out.
- The server sees the IP address of each request.
This is kept while your key is active. When the beta ends, or when you ask, it is deleted. Why I may: to give you the app and its updates, as you asked, and a legitimate interest in keeping keys personal.
The DropWave Discord
If you join the DropWave Discord, Discord handles your data under its own privacy policy. DropWave's bot, Tonic, also keeps:
- your Discord user ID and name, your XP, rank and referrals, and the key it sends you (the key only until the message is delivered);
- what you choose to tell it, such as your computer, operating system or DAW. Ask Tonic "forget me" and it is deleted;
- support tickets, reported issues, and moderation actions and warnings.
Tonic writes its answers with an AI service, so the messages you send to Tonic go to that service. Team meetings in voice channels can be transcribed: a "🔴 Recording" notice shows while it runs, no audio is stored, and transcripts are deleted after 30 days. Why I may: to run the community and give support.
When you email me
I keep your email and my reply for as long as I need to help you, and up to two years after.
Who else handles the data
Hosting providers for the website and the update server, an AI service for Tonic, and an email provider. They only process the data to provide their service to me. Some of them are in the USA; those transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Ask me and I'll tell you exactly who they are.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or move your data, limit how it's used, or object to it. Write to hello@getdropwave.com and I'll answer within a month. You can also complain to IMY, Sweden's data protection authority (imy.se), or to the authority where you live.
Changes
When what's collected changes, I change this page and the date at the top. What the app does with your audio, which is nothing, won't change.
